Blooming Marvellous

Rushmoor Voluntary Services’ supported volunteering project is ‘Blooming Marvellous’ – a Supported Adult Volunteering Gardening Project for people with or recovering from mental health issues.

What is Supported Volunteering?

Supported Adult Volunteering aims to empower those who want to volunteer but would like some support to do so.

Our volunteers enjoy making a difference to the gardens and green spaces of Rushmoor. They are keen to help local vulnerable residents whilst building happier and healthier lifestyles for themselves by improving their mental health wellbeing.

Our main activities are:

  • Working in the gardens of frail, elderly and disabled people in the Borough

  • Improving community open-spaces

  • Managing our allotments in Aldershot

  • Working with other Countryside Charities

  • Participating in training and information sessions

We hold several sessions a week to carry out our activities and support each other as well as take an active role in the development of the project. We are always on the lookout for Rushmoor residents gardens that we can ‘makeover’. This is a one off garden clearance service, not a regular gardening maintenance service.
